under the big open sky
I just got back from having 4 days and 3 nights at the beach and it was just what I needed at the right time.
I find time at the ocean to be very healing!
I imagine going there and letting all my burdens be washed away and then the newness crashing back in with the waves. Let the old out, let the new in. It’s the same repetitive motion that I think we go through as people today.
I wish I could have stayed longer, but with the hectic schedule my husband has, we could only go for a couple of days.
I slept on the couch right near the door so I could hear the waves all night! I think it’s the first time in a long time I slept so good.
We went down to the beach during the day, and at night we spent time with our good friends by going out to dinner and playing Yahtzee – all 9 of us.
We had some good laughs and even got goofy and have it on video (which I am embarrassed now to see because I think we were all sun drunk)
I kept in close contact with my therapist during this break because we are working so hard through some tough things and we wanted to keep a connection and not let time fade the line to great connection. My therapist and I did my 2 hour session Tuesday over the phone, and then talked in between. I had my time, but I also had time to connect to make sure I didn’t get lost in the space that this time gave me.
Sometimes when there is a break in therapy, I tend to disconnect and go my own way and then it’s hard to reel me back into the great connection I was in, so this time we did something different and we stay connected and it was great, it was really great! I had a good time, and I also stayed connected to all my support.
One of my favorite moments at the beach was waking up while everyone was still asleep to the sound of the ocean and the sun coming up. Those were the moments I had to time to really reflect on life and where my healing is right in this moment.
We went out to eat at a place called “Margaritaville” with our friends Kel and Tommy and their kids. It was a 3 hour wait, but so worth it. The food was amazing (even though I only could eat so very little) and it was nice all of us spending that quality time together.
I wish I could take more time out like this because it was very much needed for me. I had a good time spending time with my boys..
I am hoping that I can take one more trip to the ocean before the summer is over… maybe just for the weekend.
I am glad to be home and looking forward to writing and being back to a schedule ….

Wonderful!. I wish I could go to an ocean beach. It sounds like a great experience. I know what you mean about sleeping with the sound of the ocean waves all night long. There is something so healing and soothing about it. And what a great combination to have the connection with your T. while you were there.
Is that a photo from the beach you were at? I clicked on the link at the end of your post to see the photos but it’s facebook so I didn’t see much since I’m not on facebook….oh well – my loss.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful time.
