five minute friday {write}

aba327b713b06a8092f28ee3cd344710Welcome to Five Minute Friday to where us bloggers are given a word prompt and write for just 5 minutes simply for the joy of writing.

No editing or backtracking. No need to be perfect. Just words freely flowing from my heart to yours.

Today’s Five minute Friday word is {Write}

Start:

I have been writing since I was 5 years old. Anything I could get my hands on – pencils, crayons, markers, blank white paper that I stuffed in my bag from school to bring home so I would have something to write on.

I made my own little books out of the stacks of white paper and write down my feelings and thoughts and stuffed them away deep inside the hole in the closet for no one to find.

As I got older, got married and had kids I became a photographer. I did photography for 15 years and then put down the camera to continue my passion in writing.

Writing is my outlet to the silenced voice. Writing is putting words together and finding a way to connect them together to heal and learn from. Writing is sharing my thoughts with people who know what its like to be where I am, and connecting with others who have somewhat a story like mine.

I am in the process (but took a small break) from writing my first book along with an editor around the childhood abuse and how I find healing through the words and the power of voice.

Writing is also a part of my healing work in therapy. My therapist and I do a lot of writing inside therapy, and outside therapy. Connecting through words, and reading my blogs allowed in session allowing there to be another part of my voice to be heard.

I LOVE to write! Its healing, its connecting, its empowerment

    As a pastoral counselor to women, I am so resonating with your call in this next season, KarenBeth … for your healing, for your writing, for your wholeness I do pray.

    Beautiful reason to write, KarenBeth! I write to know that I am not alone, and to understand myself. May God continue to heal you as you write and grow.

Be empowered!

    Here from FMF and out of the hundred of posts I was drawn to your blog name because I too have been writing to heal. When I started my blog I wrote out of sheer need for sanity. I had to get all of my words out but my health kept me inside and alone. I tell people all the time, especially during the hardest years – “Writing about how good God is reminds me of how good God is!!!” May He continue to bless you with His peace and healing, as only he can! Love, love.
