feet on ground, heart in hand, facing forward, be yourself
This is one of my favorite quotes by Jann Arden “feet on ground, heart in hand, facing forward, be yourself”
This is such a powerful quote, and one that applies. I think I have said it many times in my blog writing “when you are down, that is when you gain strength”
For me, in all the years I have been healing, and not just my healing, but my physical healing in the past … those moments that I am down, are the moments I find strength to be up!
When I am down, I am really down, but in those moments I truly gain strength, because when I am up, I AM UP and I am READY to face the world and my path head on.
In the past 5 years of my healing it has been much like physical training – you hit plateaus.. you come up against HARD moments where you don’t know if you have the strength to make it through – your muscles hurt, you are weaker.. but in those moments of training the new muscles, you gain strength even in the pain – that is where I have been in the past month, I was down and gaining strength.
I will admit, it’s a lot harder to admit to the weak! You go into the gym and you show off trying to prove you can do it, but then what happens when you get out of bed the next day? you can’t walk, your sore, and your basically crawling up the stairs in pain – but it’s good pain; pain that makes you stronger…..
The same thing goes with inner healing (emotional healing).. you hit a hard place, you suffer working through it, your in pain, you think it’s never going to end, but in real, your only building the staircase to a higher place!
My therapist always tells me “I wish you could see what I see”.. and sometimes I do, and sometimes it’s a little harder, but I never stop working hard to move through those tougher moments.
This past week has been SUCH a huge movement since coming back from vacation and taking time for me… it was a great connecting week, healing week on so many levels!
In this new place of coming out of the hardness, I gave my therapist a big hug today and thanked him for being by my side in this hardness – my support is what gives me strength as well, and I am so grateful for everyone in my life – especially GOD.
Tears of joy today….. and I am looking forward to writing about it going forward!
Like the quote says “feet on ground, heart in hand, facing forward, be yourself”
