five minute friday {small}
Welcome to five minute Friday to where us bloggers are given a word prompt and write for just 5 minutes simply for the joy of writing.
No editing or backtracking. No need to be perfect. Just words freely flowing from my heart to yours.
Today’s Five minute Friday word is {SMALL}
Start
Taking small steps of sureness is more healing than taking big steps of uncertainty. That is what I truly believe.
I didn’t always believe that … I always wanted to get to the next part of my journey as fast as I could. I wanted to get there now… but over time, time has shown me that when I slow down and take small steps, I learn along the way, I heal differently, I gather more strength healing in the small steps in front of me.
it’s not easy when you want to get to a place of feeling good “right now” .. and sometimes there are times I want to run so fast forward, taking big leaps and bounds just to get out of how I am feeling… but healing is truly found in the many small steps of pain, and in those small steps of pain is more understanding, and when we understand something, we learn and heal from it.
My therapist always tells me “this is not the resting place of where you will stay, these small spaces that you sit and rest in is where the healing is happening”.
taking small steps and sitting in a small spaces is the key to moving towards big healing!
be patient
be kind with yourself
be accepting of the place you’re in
be open to all that is around you no matter how hard it is
be who you need to be
take small steps towards the bigness of who God intended you to be

Karen Beth,
I love this line about “take small steps towards the bigness of who God intended you to be” and over the past ten years I have seen that it is those little steps that eventually lead to healing…I love the first line of the poem “Patient Trust” by Pierre Teilhard De Chardin which begins, “Above all, trust in the slow work of God.”…..so true and so hard at times…blessings to you as continue your steps toward healing 🙂

“Those small spaces where you sit and rest, are where the healing is happening”… now that’s cool.

I guess I’ll have to just copy what the commentors above wrote….true for me too….I love this line: “take small steps towards the bigness of who God intended you to be”
And this one: “Those small spaces where you sit and rest, are where the healing is happening”. Just last night my husband and I went to a ‘Centering Prayer” group. Just sitting still and silent with others as we each open to the presence and action of God within us. So healing.

Taking small steps toward healing is powerful. It’s encouraging to imagine the little rest stops as places of rejuvenation and healing. Blessed by your offering today. Visiting from Five Minute Friday!

Beautiful! I too believe in the process of healing through baby steps. The hard part is being satisfied with the place that you are in at that moment. God’s amazing grace is needed to keep us grounded as well as moving forward. Blessings, Mary!
