Today’s Five minute Friday word is {BLOOM}

I love this quote “and the day came when the risk it took to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom”

That is a testament of what the past month or so has been for me. A shift came where I realized it was more painful to be in isolation than it is to at least try and take a step out and be in this big connection that God creates for us.

I think sometimes we feel comfortable being in the tight bud; especially if it feels familiar. To bloom means growth, and growth means change and sometimes change is hard and sometimes can be painful. But once we are open to connection, we can see more, and embrace more that is around us, rather being in a a place where its dark.

The past month for me has been this metaphor of just that! I was a tight bud for 2 years! 2 years I have sat in all the hardness that life was handing me, and a month ago I decided “ENOUGH” I decided to take a step out and trust even if it doesn’t feel good.

My therapist used to tell me “sometimes you have to fake it” meaning, you just have to sometimes push through and do the very thing you don’t want to do. Connect if you don’t feel like connecting, because at least its movement and eventually that connection will be fully embraced in a good way.

Last week I went out and spent the day with one of my best and dearest friends. I isolated myself from these close friends while I was going through a hard time in the past 2 1/2 years and last week I took a step and put on a smile and went out with her. We went shopping like old times and even went and saw “the fault in our stars”. I had a good time, because I pushed myself to make that step. I got out of the bud and bloomed even if for a moment.

Sometimes you just need to open up even if you don’t feel like it sometimes and eventually you will start seeing that where you were, was more painful than where you can be.
